Read Luke 2:1–17.

Our Savior, Jesus, today is your day. We cannot sing enough carols, hymns, and songs of praise! The angels spoke words of awestruck praise, amazed at your love and the ways you were demonstrating that love. A Savior, born on earth, God become man, lying in a manger in Bethlehem! Who could comprehend it? God in man, leaving the glory of heaven to rescue his rebellious human creatures from sin’s curse!

Lord Jesus, you came to earth to make us worthy to live in heaven, to find eternal joy in your presence. Lord, it overwhelms us. It moves us to tears that you could love us that much!

Holy Spirit, we thank you for breathing peace and comfort into our hearts through faith in Jesus. Teach us to celebrate Christmas truly, authentically, as we reach out to others with your own unselfish love.

Hallelujah, Christ is born! Hallelujah! We pray in our blessed Savior’s name. Amen.

Editor’s note: This prayer was written by faithful pastor Walter E. Schuette, who has since gone to be with the Lord.
