“The Holidays.” That’s become the catch-all term to describe the last six weeks of the year. For more than a generation now Thanksgiving has served simply as the starting line for our national “shop-til-you-drop” marathon. It’s the last day of relative calm before the hurricane hits. (Though more and more stores have stopped even pretending to play by the unwritten rules of the season and have begun to open their doors in the wee hours of Friday morning – or, worse still, already Thanksgiving evening.)
In the mad rush to acquire gifts, many of us forget the Giver altogether. In the busyness of “the holidays,” authentic holiness falls by the wayside as greed shoulders thankfulness aside. This year promises to be no different, unless . . .
Unless some of us call a truce. Unless we declare a true holiday—holy day, returning Thanksgiving to its intended purpose on our national calendar.
CTA is making several new resources available (many of them free) to help you do just that. Use the art, Ministry Message, invitations, bulletin covers, and theme to help those you lead “Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart.”
Then let us know how it went! We’d love to hear from you!
Editor’s note: My personal favorite is the Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart Flip Book. Subtitled “30 Days of Thanks-living,” its Scriptures, thoughts, and prayers can be used year-round to help users cultivate a thankful heart.
Don’t miss the serving tray in this product line! Consider filling several with dark chocolates and giving them as a small encouragement, thank-you gift to your church secretary, office volunteers, Sunday school teachers, music team and . . . At this price, you can’t go wrong!
