Servant Volunteers

Servant volunteers. I like that respectful title for people in our churches, schools, and communities. Volunteers give willingly and freely of their time without pay. They use their giftedness (or time) to help, assist, and encourage. They work with or for others. In love, they do what Jesus calls all of us to do – serve.

Mark 10:45 [Jesus said,] “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

John 13:14-15 [Jesus said,] Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.

Servant volunteers. I don’t know if that title will catch on in churches, schools, and other ministries, but I like it. More importantly, I appreciate what they do and hope their churches and schools honor them in unique ways. CTA’s new Serving in His Steps line of gifts will help do just that – honor ambassadors for Christ, his volunteer servants (as well as those paid for their service)!
