Vision for Grieving with Hope and Facing Illness with Hope – Part Two

In a recent blog entry I shared about the vision CTA and I share for ministry using Grieving with Hope and Facing Illness with Hope within congregations. Expand that vision beyond the local congregation. Let’s start with Facing Illness with Hope . Do you know or yourself serve as a hospital chaplain? Chaplains love to give resources to the people they serve! If your doctor is Christian, he or she may love having copies available in the waiting room. Hospice Care. Rehab centers. Treatment centers. Support groups for those with illnesses. Counselors. Non-profit ministries that reach out to families of kids battling diseases. Who else could use this helpful booklet? Let us know people or groups with whom you have shared this resource.

And what about Grieving with Hope outside the congregation? Funeral homes always keep resources on hand to give grieving families. Make sure your local funeral director knows about this book! Grief support groups. Hospice Care. Counselors. Why and where else could copies be helpful? Share your ideas with us!

  1. After I posted this entry about catching the vision for “Grieving with Hope” CTA received a customer comment from a vision-catcher, if you will. It came from owner of a funeral home. It reads,

“In our profession we witness the many different needs of families experiencing loss. Our greatest ministry comes in bringing both closure and, when possible, hope. We have given the “Grieving with Hope Leaning on Jesus” booklets to people from all walks of life, and in all stages of spiritual development. We find the book profoundly thought provoking of God’s goodness and love yet, simplistic enough for believers and non-believers alike to benefit from his word. It’s an excellent opportunity to witness to people who need it most. Many of our families request additional copies, and the material has fast become our most popular source of written encouragement.” – Owner Shepard Funeral Home, St. Louis, MO
