Water in the Desert

I have a confession: I use an answering machine to screen incoming phone calls. After years of homeschooling and working out of my home – I sell insurance and help folks with retirement planning – I have learned that not every call is a good thing. Some are just time-wasters, while others will zap your joy if you’re not careful.

That’s why a call a few days ago was like a cool stream of water in a desert place. A Christian brother whom I did not know was phoning me in my capacity as a men’s ministries director and asking me to come speak at his church in southern Virginia. I snatched up the handset and drank from a well of encouragement as this dear brother told me what I fail to hear very often – that men are starving and thirsting for direction and need passionate, Godly leadership to show them the way.

Needless to say, my sluggish battery was recharged. With God’s help, I’ll be trying to light a fire under the men of that church this Sunday morning.

How about you? Are you and your men (and women, for that matter) hungry and thirsty for God to move in your life? If so, Jesus promises to fill you (Matthew 5:6)!

What channels or venues will you create as conduits for the flow of Living Water?
